How do you get to Osumi Canyon from Berat or Tirana?
There is no bus or train to the Osumi Canyon viewpoints or to Bogove Waterfall. Minibuses run from Berat to Corovode, but that leaves you well short of the rim. The options that work are a guided day trip with pickup from Berat, a private driver, or a high-clearance 4x4 you drive yourself.
Berat is the practical starting point for almost everyone. The drive to Corovode takes about 90 minutes on good asphalt. What comes after Corovode is the part worth planning for, because that is where the pavement ends.

Is there a public bus from Berat to Osumi Canyon?
No, not to the canyon itself. Furgons run between Berat and Corovode through the day and cost a few euros. They drop you in Corovode town, which is still a long way from the rim viewpoints and about 20 kilometres from the Bogove Waterfall trailhead.
From Corovode you would need a local taxi to go any further, and there are not many of them. If you are relying on public transport, budget for that taxi and agree the return pickup before you set off, because phone signal in the gorge is unreliable.
Guided day trip with hotel pickup
This is what most visitors end up doing, and it is the only option that requires no driving decisions from you. Pickup is from your accommodation in Berat, the vehicle is suited to the tracks, and the guide knows which viewpoints are reachable on the day.
Prices run from €55 for the summer tubing trip to €85 for the full canyon and waterfall day. Rafting in spring sits at €65. All three include the return drive from Berat, which is the expensive part to arrange separately.
Driving yourself
The SH72 from Berat to Corovode is paved and fine in any car. Past Corovode, the detours to the rim and the approach to Bogove are unpaved, rutted, and in places steep with drop-offs on one side.
A standard city rental will get scraped, and most Albanian rental agreements exclude damage sustained on unpaved roads, so the repair comes out of your deposit. If you want to drive, take a high-clearance 4x4.
What the road is actually like
Berat to Corovode is roughly 50 kilometres and takes about an hour and a half, following the Osumi valley on smooth asphalt. It is a pleasant drive.
After Corovode the surface becomes dust and loose stone. Blind corners are common and the tracks are wide enough for one vehicle in places, so expect to reverse for oncoming traffic. After heavy rain, and through most of the winter, mud makes several of these sections impassable without four-wheel drive.
